Raga Rahman - Unfamiliar Affinity

Raga Rahman was born and raised in Berlin, Germany, to German-Bengali parents. She is currently studying photography at the Academy of Fine Arts, Leipzig, Germany. Some of her photography, video, and sound art projects are being exhibited at Kalakendra Gallery, Dhaka, where we witness a blending and negotiation of multiple cultural influences into a cohesive sense of self.

As a father, artist, and gallery curator, I am deeply moved by her intellectual and psychological adaptability in navigating her identity within contemporary political and aesthetic discourse. Her artworks that use Bengali intellectual references show her deep concern and confidence in her identity and global knowledge.

Her artistic affinity with both familiar and unfamiliar circumstances invites viewers to reassess their perceptions of the world around them.
